Author Bio

TLDR; I’m a big nerd with an extensive and expansive education and work history who writes imaginative fantasy novels that make people feel seen and hopeful. I have a lot of ideas.

Once there was a little girl who wanted to own a dude ranch when she grew up. As she was only eight, she had years and years and years before she could make this dream happen, so she turned to writing a sadly incomplete, illustrated story about a fish named Max.

Obviously that girl was me. I eventually decided the dude ranch life wasn’t for me, but I went on to have many adventures and try many things. I went to college for political economics and early childhood education. I spent time as a blizzard flipper, forklift driver, barista, preschool teacher, college football team film girl, think tank intern, business strategy consultant, and landscape designer. I started a big family. Between and through all of these, there was writing.

As a girl, I wrote stories about anthropomorphic fish and wove what-ifs involving snow and wolves and true love, but there have been many stories over the years, most of them inspired by my movie-like, plot-driven dreams or tidbits of information from my sporadic hyper-fixative research on random things I’m curious about. I’ve dreamt plot lines about shapeshifters and ancient gods. There have been stories about pirates, fairy tales, women of magical blood-lines, and recently, sisters. Stories about love and family, living your own life, and defending the defenseless.

The stories never stop. I collect them, choosing the ones that shine brightest to build into something that makes people feel seen and hopeful.

I write with the belief that people are people are people, that love is love is love. I write stories that provide happy endings, ask what if...? and trigger the imagination. I write because no one else will write the stories I have in my head, and because I need to see the not-so-great parts of both humanity and myself on the page and still have everything turn out ok.

There is always something new to dream up, and I’m so grateful for the ability and freedom to put it on a page.
